* 10th century castle: View PDF
In the middle of the fertile plain of the Ebro and backed by the Beceite mountains, which can be viewed from the swimming pool and balconies, the Parador rises up in the upper part of the town, in a setting which combines the historical beauty of the town with the natural surroundings. Abderramán III decided to build this fortification, which now houses La Zuda (the well), next to four splendid large Catalan Gothic windows. The decoration of the interior assimilates the predominance of Christian and regal characters with classical style furniture and wooden beams. Within the walls, with Arabic motifs, the dining room is important for its large Gothic windows. Inside, it offers rice dishes, 'anguila en suc' (eels in broth), 'suquet de peix' (fish in sauce) and 'pastisets' (vermicelli cakes) and 'Garrofetas' (dessert). There are various rooms offered at this Parador, including standard double (with either queen or two beds); king with canopy and hydromassage bath; king with canopy; queen with hydromassage bath; double with canopy and hydromassage bath.

Wonderfully helpful staff, great food, clean and scenic room. I really couldn't ask for anything more...except maybe someone to assist in carrying our luggage! We were even thinking of making a future trip to visit more Parador in Spain, maybe with the Passport. Wonderful place to stay and will recommend it to my friends. Thank you for including me in your survey.

We thought that the location was spectacular and the rooms were very nice. The bathrooms were very clean. Food in the dining room was the low point. Service in the dining room was adequate.,

One of our favourite Paradors, well kept, professionally run. The Golden Days program is great on all Paradors, the meals on all, however, are too pricey.

Hotel provided great views and was a beautiful court yard.
Didn't Like:
The area around the hotel was very dirty and run down walking back to the hotel up the steep hill was difficult. Wasn't much reason to stay in this location except it was convenient for us on our schedule.

Liked:
Very scenic, authentic Old Spanish charm, spectacular views.
Didn't Like:
Very difficult to find. Most townspeople we asked for directions did not know where to direct us. We were lost several times on one-way, dead=end streets and only reversed our direction with great difficulty. The doors squeaked loudly and the window shutters were difficult to operate. A young couple were lying in front of the main entrance on the driveway in an amorous embrace for along period of time. No one from the Parador staff did anything to ask them to leave or at least clear th roadway. I don't believe they were guests. Bringing luggage into the hotel was extremely difficult, with no ramps or lift, one had to negotiate several flight of stone steps to access the elevator.

The hotel manager at the Paradores in Tortosa was extermely unhelpful when my wife and I asked for a restaurant recommendation. He would only recommend the hotel restaurant. When we informed him that we would like to see the town of Tortosa and eat at a restaurant in town, he flatly refused to make any recommendations. Instead he curtly said we should eat at the hotel restaurant. Besides the unhelpful and somewhat rude hotel manager, we enjoyed our stay at the Paradores in Tortosa.

I enjoyed the town and surroundings. The hotel was nice, but not on par with some of the other hotels. I would rate it a 3 to 4 star only.
Didn't Like:
I found the staff to be pleasant enough, but certainly not nearly as friendly as staff at the two other Paradors in Chincon and Cuenca.

For the price, location of the hotel was great, but for the restaurant ,for sure I did not recommend it.Service was poor(correct but can be better)and the food must be better. The week after I went to the Parador de Cardona and there ,they are in busness. But after all,Parador was a good experience, and I recommend it to my family and friends also.
