The Parador, Santo Domingo Bernardo de Fresneda is located in the former Convent of San Francisco, about 800 meters from the historical centre of Santo Domingo de la Calzada (and another spectacular parador). After a skillful remodelling of the entire complex, including the former pilgrim’s hostel which is now the main Parador building, this is a delightful place to stay. There are twenty two double rooms and twenty three twin rooms, all air conditioned and with television and minibar. The decoration of the Parador is full of contrasts, with natural summer and winter colours and art featuring both sombre religious themes and modern graphics - a pleasing combination. Each room has a full modern bathroom with bath and shower. The restaurant features the cuisine of La Rioja with some exceptional tasting menus offered and an extensive winelist. The location is an ideal starting point for hiking and walking in the surrounding area, and it is also located in the heart of the St. James Way offering pretty trails, golf, and even skiing in the winter months

The restaurant offers the local Piquillo peppers, roast ribs of lamb from the Cameros mountains, mixed Ribera vegetables, cod Rioja style, Santo Domingo cake and the famous Rioja wines with Denomination of Origin.
