* 12th century Medieval castle: View PDF
The castle that houses this Parador has a magnificent and ancient history. Once an Arabic citadel constructed on a Roman settlement, construction on this imposing castle began in 1123, and was later the residence of bishops, cardinals and kings. It is a wonderful place from which to enjoy this historic town, and lovely surrounding areas. Traditional Castilian furniture is in the spacious ensuite bedrooms, some with four poster beds and terrace. Some rooms used to be royal chambers in the palace with stately living rooms. There is a 13th c. Romanesque chapel in the building. In addition to a stone courtyard and a modern gym, the Parador's thick stone walls enclose a stately dining room, where one can sample regional dishes such as fried bread crumbs with bacon and fried eggs, roast suckling kid, cod prepared with manchego cheese, and for dessert, the famous borrachitos seguntinos or flores de Cabanillas all prepared with the very best regional and seasonal products. In addition to standard double rooms (with two beds), the Parador also has rooms with two beds, suites, king rooms with hydromassage bath; king with living room; double (2 beds) with balcony. The interiors are of mediaeval style and overlook one of two courtyards or out over the countryside and town of Siguenza. This is a special place to stay.
Family Information
2 children can share 1 extra bed in a Suite, Double Standard or Superior room but this must be booked by request. Please send an enquiry regarding pricing and availability
Meal Information
Regional: Approx. 30 euros
Notes
PARKING: Free outdoor parking
See the Medieval Festival: 5 to 11 June at Hita, 60 km. and La Caballada (variable date): Atienza, 35 km. Siguenza has a lovely cathedral and there is some good walking/hiking in the countryside. Siguenza is about 130 km. from Madrid and is easily accessible by train, bus and taxi. If you are looking for a place to stay on your first or last night and need easy access to the airport without going into the centre of Madrid, this would be a good choice. It will probably not take more than an hour and fifteen minutes from door to door, depending on traffic.

Hotel was beautiful, lived up to the photos. The standard room was spacious and the suite was palatial. Town was easy to walk to. Free Wifi was a great convenience.
Didn't Like:
The only thing I wished it had was connecting rooms. We had a suite and an adjacent room.

The castle is amazing. Rooms are clean, of decent size and well maintained. If you want to stay in a castle, this is a great place to stay. The included breakfast buffet was quite good.
Didn't Like:
Dinner in the restaurant was only so-so and pretty expensive at about 30+ euros per person. Parking and access to the building requires managing some stairs and narrow hallways to get to the rooms.
Rating: Very Good
Our dinner was perhaps not as wonderful as in the other Parador we stayed in (Jaen), but what a spectacular buoilding and setting!

The front desk help was not very friendly. Nor were the servers in the restaurant. The internet was down and the front desk did nothing to remedy anything.
Rating: Average
The restarant could profit from a trained manager. The present management is far short of what it could/should be.That is a pity because it has potential.Lets the hotel down.
Rating: Poor
Servise was very bad. Because they didn't call a taxi for us,When we left from there. So we had to run to station.
