The Parador is in the beautiful Barreda-Bracho ancestral home, in the Santillana del Mar plaza, an 8th century town declared a National Monument. The main entrance leads to welcoming public spaces with wood floors and traditional decor. The guestrooms are comfortable and in harmony with the Parador's overall atmosphere. The dining room serves regional cuisine including Highland and Liébana stews, grilled baby beef sirloin, hake from the Cantabrian Sea over green asparagus, the famous 'sorropotún' (bonito and vegetable stew), and the typical dessert 'quesada pasiega' (cheese pastry). Room types include standard double with either two beds or queensize bed, double with living room, double with balcony. A minimum board arrangement of accommodation and breakfast is required from 1 April through 31 October. Unique Rooms is a package for two people, designed especially for those who look for something a little different and special in a hotel stay. All the unique rooms represent a selection of the finest accommodation available at each Parador. The package includes the room, breakfast, a few extra treats and surprises in the room, VIP treatment and a special dinner for you to sample our tasting menu. At this Parador, the unique room is The Emperador Room. Many famous figures have stayed here, such as General de Gaulle, the present emperors of Japan, etc. The adze-finished wooden floor and the fireplace, as well as the furnishings and curtains, create a comfortable atmosphere where time seems to stand still, far from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The terrace overlooking the garden with views over Santillana and the green landscape to the north. The rate for this package is 267 euros per person/night inc. tax.
