15th Century Palace and Castle: View PDF
The ancestral home of the Álvarez family of Toledo, the Counts of Oropesa, was also a refuge for soldiers, monks and nobles in other times. This Parador offers exceptional panoramic views of the Gredos mountain range. The historical value of the Keep backing on to the Parador, the columns and arcades of the courtyard, and the swimming pool, with views of the flat lands of the Campo Arañuelo, form a very attractive whole. Lamps, large chests and curtains dominate the interior decoration in the spacious and bright rooms. The restaurant serves regional and seasonal cuisine characteristic of Oropesa (approximate price 30-40 euros) and there is a pleasant terrace that also serves snacks. The rooms have internet access by cable. This Parador has fourteen rooms with double bed and thirty twin bedded rooms as well as one unique room called El Peinador de la Reina (room 204). A two night special promotion is available in this room: this includes VIP treatment, tasting menu dinner for 2, including coffee and drinks, special breakfast, bottle of Cava, fruit basket and daily newspapers for 267 euros per person per night. El Peinador de la Reina room is the largest and most comfortable at the Palace. Located in a tower attached to the building, the room has a large living room and a side room with seven balconies with views over the Castle, Oropesa old quarter, Campo Arañuelo and Gredos. The room has an amazing hand-painted 2x2 m four poster bed and has lodged many famous figures over the years. There is a castle attached to the Parador that is open to the public and is well-worth a visit.

Rating: Excellent “(No Comment)” Rating: Excellent “(No Comment)” Rating: Excellent “It was as I remembered it from when I stayed there when I lived in Spain as a young man. Great!” Rating: Excellent “Stunning views from breakfast room.” Rating: Excellent “The Parador could not be faulted in any way. We stayed for three nights altogether, and enjoyed it all thoroughly. Equally, we enjoyed the Paradors at Trujillo and Plasencia, and will undoubtedly stay at other Paradors in the future.” Rating: Excellent “(No Comment)” Rating: Very Good “(No Comment)” Rating: Very Good “Impressive hotel, good staff and lovely rooms. I was disappointed that the swimming pool was closed when the weather was so good.” Rating: Very Good “A wonderful place lovely rooms and charming staff. Also food very good. Unfortunately we arrived in the middle of Fiesta weekend when the whole town stays up all night so it is very noisy and you can´t escape it!! However staff do their best to mitigate things and they were really charming. On a final note Inns of Spain staff are excellent and very helpful. In fact we built up quite a rapport during our bookings! Can´t believe you are in Canada!!! Best regards Noreena Parker and hasta el ano proximo!!”
