* 18th Century Convent: View PDF
The Hotel retains the structure of the former 18th century convent, built over the remains of a temple to the Concord of Augustus. It offers guests an opportunity to enjoy the rich heritage of the lovely city of Mérida and the landscape around it. Some of the most outstanding spaces are the hotel lounge in the former convent refectory, the interior courtyard and the beautiful gardens, including the “Garden of Antiquities”, an archaeological collection consisting of Mudejar, Roman and Visigoth elements. There is a swimming pool, gym and sauna here. There are seventy twin rooms and nine double-bedded rooms here. There are also three special suites (separate living area and bedroom/bathroom). Highlights of the extensive and imaginative menu offered by the restaurant are truffles, caldereta (Extremadura stew), an assortment of gazpachos and figs from Almoharín.

except the parador at nerja, they charged us for a superior room that we did not request.

Everything - it was a really delightful experience and the town was so very interesting.
Didn't Like:
Tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom would be nice to have.

Liked:
Lovely hotel on a small, attractive park-like square. Service and facilities were on a par with all the other paradors I've stayed at. Garage was easy to find. And the attendant was delightful.
Didn't Like:
I was given a room at the front of the hotel-facing the square. I was awakened both nights by loud voices in the square and then by a small dog barking and running loose across the square. If I stay there again I will ask for a room at the back.

Wi-Fi advertised; had to pay at the desk. Took the laptop to my room and couldn't connect. Had to use laptop in room next to reception.

Facilities and cleanliness in the room were very good. Bed was comfortable. It was lovely having a balcony overlooking the courtyard. The buffet breakfast, when provided, was very extensive and good value. The evening meal menu was good in having a vegetarian option.
Didn't Like:
Cost of evening meal was far more - twice as expensive - as elsewhere. No salad was offered with the main dish, even though it was highly priced. The cheese board offered, consisting of a few very small pieces of cheese, was exceedingly over-priced at almost Eur20. On our second stay, the buffet breakfast was not provided because of the low occupancy of the hotel. This was not well explained by hotel staff and we were left puzzled as why and what we could have for breakfast. The internet wi-fi did not function away from the rooms close to reception. The menu was considerably more expensive than in the other paradors at which we stayed. The rooms were fine.
