* Ducal Palace of Lerma: View PDF
Four hundred years ago, the Duke of Lerma, a favorite of King Philip III, expelled the Moors from Castile and used their confiscated wealth to build a palace in Lerma, which is about 125 miles north of Madrid. Now a Parador, it is a wonderful place to enjoy the history of the area, the beautiful rooms in the building and great food in the attractive restaurant. The public spaces are arranged around a large double-arcaded courtyard, covered with a glass roof. This central courtyard is surrounded by columned arcades in altenating sections: the first has 20 Tuscan columns with semi-circular arches, and the second has 20 Ionic columns. There is also a seasonal swimming pool and spa. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with telephone, television, internet access, safe and, of course, full bathrooms. The room types included standard double rooms (with either queensize bed or two beds); handicapped accessible double room, split level room, double with king bed and views and double with two beds and living room. A minimum board arrangement of accommodation and breakfast is required from 1 April through 31 October.
Meal Information
Regional: 31.03 Euros. Exclusive diner menu December 31/2007: Adult 160Eu, Child 60Eu/ person.
Notes
The original owner - the Duke - built an enclosed, elevated walkway across the town to the church of San Pedro. The walkway has long been converted to apartments, but you can enter the church with a tour guide (about 3 euros). Lerma has lots of excellent restaurants.

The windows were large that opened up onto an amazing view. The room was decorated with flair and taste. The Paradore's common areas were extrodinary! The village was a classic. There were excellent restaurants in the village but no shopping. We highly recommend it.

This was the first parador we stayed in on this trip, and we were thrilled! The room was airy, gorgeous, new, & spacious; great bathroom and balcony. The complete dinner was superb. Lerma is a quiet, charming little town. The parador was so easy to get to. Great staff, too. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

UNBELIEVABLE!! The staff was so great and my room was in the tower. I loved every minute of it. The restaurant was great food, service and a night to remember.

In some paradors it was excellent (Lerma!!!, Santiago), in some - not (Leon). The facade was very nice but the hotel is far behind my expecations, just simple modern standard hotel behind very nice wall

but the facilities for my disabled wife were poor - the bathroom, in particular, lacked sufficient room to navigate a wheelchair.

Lighting poor in our room for reading (particularly by the round table and chairs). Service for pre-dinner drinks very slow. BUT food really excellent, dinner and breakfast (which was outstandingly good); staff very helpful; room very comfortable.

Rooms were beautiful...need to mop your bathrooms between guests. Again, no internet. Restaurant was good, but, pricey!
Rating: Good
Service to the central lobby area/bar could be improved as it is a very popular and beautiful setting but table/bar service is/was slow
Rating: Poor
We opened the curtains in our room and discovered we were looking right at the green garbage/recycling cans. We asked if we could move to another room but the hotel was full.
Rating: Poor
Surprised that had to pay for breakfasts which were not taken. Otherwise excellent.
