* A former mill in Isabel la Católica Park: View PDF
The Parador occupies a hundred-year-old mill, located in the Isabel La Católica Park, one of the most beautiful spots in the town of Gijón. The closeness of San Lorenzo beach and of the Cimadevilla sailors' quarter, make it a special place to spend a day or two. The interiors are bright and spacious and the ensuite guestrooms have a warm ambience. The restaurant's special dishes of Fabada (rich stew of beans, pork, etc.) and Fabes should not be missed. The caldereta de marisco (seafood stew), chopa a la sidra (fish in cider), pote asturiano (vegetable and pork broth) and merluza con cocochas (hake) also stand out. Some of the very good wines of the region include the Ribeiros and Valdeorras and there is a special room set aside for drinking the local Asturias cider. The pleasant bar overlooks a small island inhabited by a variety of water birds including black and white swans. In addition to double rooms with two beds or one queensize bed, the Parador can offer a kingsize bed with canopy, a kingsize bed and views, and a double room with view. A minimum board arrangement of accommodation and breakfast is required from 1 July through 31 August.

Liked:
Main restaurant provided good food and service for dinner, reasonable choice of dishes and good choice of wines. Receptionists were good and helpful.
Didn't Like:
Hotel is "traditionally" a bit dull, room lighting was totally inadequate by modern standards. The car park was inadequate for the number of guests at the hotel. Insufficient spaces and most spaces not very big for modern cars with wide doors. Fortunately we arrived early and were able to park relatively easily. However, it looked as though some guests had struggled to find parking. The buffet breakfast area seemed to be a bit small, it would be better to use the main restaurant.
Rating: Average
Room OK but it had unpleasant smell. Apart from one lovely lady who was at door to welcome people, found rest of staff indifferent.
Rating: Poor
The bathroom ventilation fans in our and adjacent rooms were very noisy and disturbed our sleep General standards of maintenance of grounds was poor
