The former convent of San Pablo is beside the Hoz del Huécar gorge, a location of sheer walls and luxuriant vegetation on the outskirts of Cuenca, next to the 'Casas Colgadas' (Suspended Houses). It is easy to walk across the suspended bridge to the main old town. The glazed cloister and the former chapel, now an inviting café, complement an interior which combines traditional elements with more contemporary details such as wicker, leather and upholstery. The comfortable, welcoming bedrooms have splendid views of the 'Casas Colgadas'. There is also bar, restaurant and cafeteria where you may sample the traditional cooking of Cuenca. This Parador has a gym, sauna, seasonal swimming pool and tennis court. There is free WIFI in the rooms and throughout the hotel. Covered parking at 17 euros/night, or free outside parking. In addition to standard double rooms with two beds or one queensize bed, the Parador offers suites, double room with king bed and views, double (2 beds) and living room, and double with view. The Parador was lovely and the reception staff very helpful. Our bedroom comfortable. The restaurant was very good, but we were rushed through our meal by an over enthusiatic waiter. The Parador is in a perfect location for exploring Cuenca.
Didn't Like:
Our shower room/toilet was not to the expected standard for this level of hotel.

It is a lovely, amazing spot. The staff was not very welcoming. They seemed a bot overwhelmed and inexperienced. The rooms were nice, restaurant was a bit of a mad house. Would go again for the location.

Liked:
Well Kept Paradore, with unique setting.Rooms comfortable. Reception very helpful. This was my second visit within a year because I love the art (Modern, & historical) in the city. I brought friends from the USA & some will come back in the next few years. The Cloister with the Cypresses is a contemplative & a beautiful space.
Didn't Like:
1) the lighting in the rooms could be made somewhat brighter. 2) The restaurant staff (dinner) were not as friendly or accomadating as on my last visit, and the food quality was a little less good than last time. 3)One of the Cypress trees in the Cloister needs care from a TREE specialist. If you loose the Cypress trees you will loose a lot of the ambience of the hotel. Take good care of those trees please ......1
