Founded by the Lords of Chinchón in the 17th c., this former Augustinian convent is in the old quarter of Chinchón next to the famous Plaza Mayor. The garden has beautiful cypress trees, roses and privets and there are splendid cloisters and a swimming pool. The stone walls are in a Renaissance style, with large windows and vaults and decorated with classical and Castilian style furniture. The ensuite guest bedrooms are in the inner space, most overlooking the garden with a peaceful ambience. The dining room offers 'sopa de ajo' (garlic soup), suckling pig and roast lamb and the typical 'cocido madrileño' (Madrid-style garbanzo bean stew). In addition to double rooms with two beds, the Parador also has double rooms with King size bed and living room, double with two beds and living room, suites, and double special rooms. The parking for this Parador is a few minutes away in a covered garage (extra charge for this). A minimum board arrangement of accommodation and breakfast is required from 6 - 8 January. 18 and 19 March, 29 April to 2 May; 13-15 May. 1 - 31 August, 2 - 10 December and weekends. Half or full board is also required at certain dates. Because of its proximity to Madrid, this Parador is very popular with visitors from Madrid, so fills up very quickly. Transport: From Barajas airport to Parador de Chinchon you need to take the Metro to the Conde de Casal square and there you can take buses to Chinchon. In high season and weekends
