* 14th Century Moorish Citadel: View PDF
This Parador is a great example of the restoration of an ancient building for modern use, combining old Arabic buildings with new construction. 2011 is the 35th anniversary of the Parador: in 1976 the Parador was created within the walls of a 16th century castle. To celebrate this anniversary there is a promotion of two days half board including drinks, with 35% off the normal price (100 euros pp per night). With a Moorish style patio, huge halls with decorated ceilings, balconies overlooking the river below, it is one of our favourite Paradores. The fertile plain of the river Corbones offers an outstanding panoramic view of this fortress, to which different civilizations have brought the best of their artistic culture. With lovely views all round, there is a spectacular swimming pool in landscaped gardens, a courtyard and Mudejar fountain,The pool is accessed from the first floor and there are a lot of steps to reach it as it is further down the hillside. Our favourite room was the King with hydromassage bath, but there are also standard rooms with sofabeds (ideal for 2 adults and 2 small children). Room 216 is big enough for a family. Some double rooms have a balcony. Most of the rooms have been newly renovated and are spacious, bright, with classical decor and Sevillian tiles. The Bermejo function room stands out, with its rugs and numerous antiques. The refectory, now a dining room, presents delicious seasonal and local dishes, with specialties such as 'cartuja de perdiz' (partridge with vegetables) and Carmona spicy spinach. The Parador is approximately 30 km. to Seville. Carmona is one of Spain's National Monumental Cities and its past is fascinating. We were there in mid-April and came upon an impressive religious procession complete with bands and pasos - definitely a highlight of our stay. Guided walking tours of the town are available. Once you park your car at the Parador, the old town is at your doorstep and you can explore the town on foot.

The room was very nice with all the usual hotel amenities. The location was superb and the food in the restaurant was excellent. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will return another year. Following our stay here we visited two other Paradors for lunch whilst in Spain. I would definitely use your services again. You were very responsive to my particular needs.

this was a beautiful site and a lovely place to stay especially with the indoor courtyard. However....on Sunday le tout Seville descends on it plus all their kids and being indulgent spanish parents they let them run around the courtyard yelling their yeads off. When we complained about the noise the desk said they couldn´t do anything about it. Weak or what! Anyway my husband went and talked to the parents and immediately there was calm! An inner moorish courtyard is not meant to be used as a playground. I think this is a problem with all the paradors near cities everyone descends for sunday lunch and obviously it is a profitable venture but they should remember that they have guests. They don´t leave until around 6 or 7 in the evening and it´s not fair on those who wish to maybe rest before dinner etc. The bar is a bit odd at Carmona too. During the week when there isn´t much going on the staff seem to go into a sort of hibernation! the bar doesn´t work very well etc. anyway at the weekend we had a super barman and all the staff perked up tremendously. Highs and lows I suppose. Difficult to get motivated if you haven´t many guests in the off season. I have to say the front desk was lacking in personality and assertiveness and recognition of guests. We stayed about four days and nobody on the desk acknowledged us at all.I was 40 years in the service industry so appreciate staff training and the results of it. Best regards the Parkers

The breakfasts were very good but we were disappointed with the food in the restaurant in the evening although we enjoyed the tapas from the bar which we ate on the terrace.

This parador is brilliant in summer. Our winter stop meant there was no swimming and the courtyard could not be used. Location close to the old town is brilliant
Didn't Like:
The window in our room was small and it felt like a prison. After Jaen, this parador looked small.

The general atmosphere of the Parador was 'adequate'. It has a promising exterior, but that has little to do with the inside of the hotel as the rooms are uninteresting. It pales in comparison to the nearby, similarly priced, Casa de Carmona. The Parador de Carmona does have an advantage over the Casa de Carmona; however, it has a helpful staff and can accomadate a family.

Though we asked for better directions, the hotel was easy to find, even in the dark. But when one is unsure of the location, knowing in advance what will come sets the mind at ease. It seemed that the beds did not live up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. Two single beds pushed together was a disappointment. The coffee in the hotel resaurant left much to be desired. In fact, the breakfast spread was beautiful, but much of it tasted like it came out of plastic wrappings and cans. The front desk staff was superb! Absolutely wonderful. They answered our every request with dignity and professionalism. The restaurant staff was also wonderful. They are all to be commended. We will say that we we had some problems with our internet connection and the room was a bit too cold. The environs were great, though, and we loved Carmona, overall. In fact, we left Sevilla early so we could just relax in Carmona and watch the crowds gathering for Easter Vigil evening.

We did cancel the reservations, because the room was clammy and cold and we did not get a heater. This hotel is not suited for an early April stay for people who feel cold easily. On top of that it was very crowded and we waited very long for a coffee, too little rrom for privacy, lots of kids, not really our expectation for a quiet refugee. Location very nice, but as I saiad, too crowded and cold.
