Charming enclave in the Pyrenees: View PDF
The hotel is located in Val D’Arán, only 7 km. from Baqueira, in the Catalan Pyrenees. The landscape's main features can be seen from the Parador and they include forests, winter snow-capped mountains, and summertime greenery. The Parador's style is in keeping with the local architecture and occupies the Casa de D. Gaspar de Portolá, named after the man who discovered California. The bedrooms have sloped ceilings with dormer windows and exposed beams and there are thirty eight twin rooms, nine double rooms, four suites and seven duplex rooms, all with full bathrooms and with Satellite television, telephone, mini bar and hairdryer. Facilities at the Parador include elevator, central heating and air conditioning, bar, free wi-fi internet access, shop, heated swimming pool, sauna, gymnasium, garden, children’s play area, garage and car park. The Parador also has numerous conference rooms including the outstanding Salón Chimenea. The cuisine at the restaurant is influenced by regional specialities such as olla aranesa (stew), trucha a la llosa (local trout dish), civet de jabalí (wild boar stew) and pescajus de Artíes (brandy flavoured pancakes). In Val d'Aran there are many Romanesque style charges - the Church in Santa Maria de Arties is particularly worth a visit. There are also well preserved Roman Baths. The ski station at Baquira Beret is about 6 km. from the Parador.
