This spacious, quiet Parador, surrounded by green gardens and with a refreshing swimming pool, is close to all the provincial capitals of Andalusia. Ideal for holding social gatherings, it is surrounded by a lush fertile plain and the Torcal, a peculiar spot with geological formations. Antequera has a rich historical and artistic heritage. Fully renovated in 2008, the inner rooms are spacious, with light shades dominating in the wood of the ceilings, walls and floors and with modern leather furniture. The restaurant offers traditional dishes from Málaga with local touches, such as 'porra antequera' (cold vegetable soup), gazpacho (Andalusian cold soup), a cod dish called 'pío antequerano' and 'bienmesabe' (type of sponge cake). This Parador only offers double rooms with two beds. There is a children's play area and a seasonal swimming pool here - perfect for those sweltering Andalusian days in summer.

All staff were excellent but the dining room staff at the Alhambra hotel were really very very good.

My only comment is that my daughter who is celiac was really looking forward to going to the hotel because of the promotion regarding catering for those on a gluten free diet. In fact there was nothing specific at all..she could just choose from the general menu and in fact this was more limited than many other menu we had used in Spain. Also there were no gluten free cereals for breakfast and we could not use the toaster becuase of fear of contamination. To add to the problems the staff couldn't find her 'special' bread on the first morning. Other than that the location friendliness and everything was great

Front desk service correct, but a bit dated. Signboards to the Parador not very clear.

Hotel very difficult to find. Female staff helpful. Male staff seem reluctant to relate to foreigners. Restaurant could be better.
Rating: Average
People are used to standard treatment, nothing more. Staff has problems with foreign languages.
Rating: Average
There was a wedding on at the time we visited which was a little disconcerting and rather noisy as our room was in amongst the rooms occupied by the wedding guests.
Rating: Poor
The food is very poor. The breakfast 'hot' dishes are always cold and the dinners were made from poor ingredients and then badly prepared.
