* 16th Century Franciscan Convent: View PDF
We particularly liked this Parador and the town of Almagro. The Parador was once the Convent of San Francisco, built by the Dávila de la Cueva family in 1596, and is located in a quiet area within easy walking distance of the town. The rooms within the hotel are welcoming and have a stylish feel, featuring an amazing fourteen interior courtyards and a swimming pool. The bedrooms have been created from the former monastic cells. They are far from monastic now, however, with comfortable furniture, full bathrooms, telephone, television, minibar and hairdrier in the bathroom. The interior decoration is finished with beautiful galleries, woodwork and latticework. There are five rooms with one big bed and forty four with twin beds. Manchegan cuisine such as asadillo de pimientos (roast peppers with tomato), los duelos y quebrantos (pork and chorizo scrambled egg) and the famous Almagro-style aubergines can be sampled in the restful atmosphere of the restaurant. Half or full board is mandatory at certain times of the year when there are national holidays or special events taking place in town: from 6 - 8 January, 25 - 27 February, 18-19 March, 23-27 March, 29 April - 1 May, 13-15 May, 7-31 July, 28-31 October and 2-10 December (other dates to be announced).

The charm of the facility, the staff's attentiveness and the location of the parador in the town made this one of our most enjoyed stops on our journey in Spain

Liked:
The peace and quiet and spacious rooms
Didn't Like:
We arrived late afternoon and proceeded to the courtyard to have a cocktail/glass of wine. I thought that your prices for cocktails were high, even higher than shown on your menu. It was also higher than the in room bar/refrigerator.

Restaurant service in the evening a little bit perfunctory and condescending I felt (I speak fluent Spanish). The room and everything else was fine
