 Convent of Santo Tomás and Hostería del Estudiante: View PDFConvent of Santo Tomás and Hostería del Estudiante is the newly opened Parador in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, only 26 km from the capital city and 20 km from Barajas International Airport and IFEMA. It has 128 guestrooms, some with twin beds, some with queen/double bed and several quad rooms. Parador de Alcalá de Henares is housed in a magnificent seventeenth-century building, the former Santo Tomás Dominican Convent and School. It is one of the city’s landmarks along with Hostería del Estudiante (across the road), in the former Minor School of San Jerónimo, founded by Cardinal Cisneros in 1510 and overlooking the beautiful Patio Trilingüe at the University of Alcalá de Henares. These monuments form a complex that was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Around the cloisters at the Santo Tomás School-Convent are the restaurant, bar, breakfast room, the guests’ lounge, the night bar, and the spa (to be opened in 2010). There is also restaurant in Hostería del Estudiante, which serves traditional (including Cervantine) cuisine. The Parador has a swimming pool, which is open only in the summer. In addition, twelve rooms are available for conferences, meetings, and other events (covering nearly 1,000 square metres). Some of the meeting rooms also have a separate reception area. This is an exceptional Parador, a perfect mix of original and very modern, with gorgeous rooms (especially the suites) and enthusiastic and helpful staff.

It is also easy to take a taxi to/from the Parador to the local train station (or you can walk it in about 20 minutes), from where a train into Madrid will take only about 15 minutes.

Cancellation Policy:
A deposit equivalent to the first night's stay will be charged at the time of reserving. The remainder will be charged 30 days prior to the check-in date.
Reservations may be cancelled up to 72 hours before your reservation without penalty (Your deposits will be returned to you). If you cancel less than 72 hours before check-in, or in case of "no-show", the one-night deposit will be retained. If you shorten your stay once you have checked-in, the Parador may impose a penalty of one-nights stay.
